The new MacBook and Badaboom accellerated H.264 conversion
Elemental Technologies have created a software called Badaboom (Windows only). The application accelerates conversion of video files to H.264 for your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Video and other products using the H.264 codec (much like what you get under OS X using Elgato´s Turbo264. I wanted to try this software on my new MacBook after having installed Windows XP with Boot Camp. Theoretically this should be possible since the NVIDIA 9400M (which is the new unibody MacBook´s built-in GPU) chip is on NVIDIA´s list of CUDA supported products.
This was unfortunately not possible with the current nVidia drivers included with the Boot Camp installer for Windows. I´m sure that a future update to the Boot Camp drivers will fix this. The solution for me was to find some alternative drivers from laptopvideo2go.com. Note that all their drivers aren´t compatible with the 9400M GPU, but the one in the link worked like a charm. Happy converting!
Elemental Technologies also makes RapiHD™, a professional solution for accelerated H.264 output from Adobe Premiere® Pro CS4. Trial version of Badaboom can be downloaded from here.
