Finale NotePad

Finale Notepad used to be MakeMusic’s free low end notation software. They charge USD $9.95 for the 2009 version, but it is still great value with excellent functionality. It comes with guitar TAB notation, multi-voice arrangement support, MusicXML and Finale/Printmusic import/export, a built in GeneralMIDI virtual sound module with lots of different instrument sounds so you can hear your arrangement and much more. You can get versions for mac or PC.
